MITIE Term 2 Conference
As one of our key collabs, MITIE were kind enough to offer ed/it women free entry to their Term 2 Conference held at St. Augustine's College.
The conference agenda was packed full of a wide range of topics that appealed to the diverse group of attendees.
Jackie Khoo from NBN Co. was the first presenter and spoke about her company's initiatives to support women in the workplace, and importantly for ed/it women, how they support them in the technological industry. NBN Co. identify high potential women in their organisation, and make sure that they are on the correct leadership paths.
Jackie spoke of how her company focus on diversity and inclusion; how NBN Co. strive to close the gender gap, with initiatives to attract, develop and retain female talent in their industry. I found her to be very impressive in the context of our motto: "we can be what we can see".
Jonathan Byrne, the Principal from St. Augustine's discussed how ICT Leaders can work more effectively with School Executive. For those ed/it women aspiring to leadership positions, I felt that Jonathan gave practical advice from both the perspective of a school principal and as someone who had also worked in the ICT realm.
Professor Lindsey Conner from Flinders University was presenting on a course that Flinders University was considering - it opened up a lot of discussion around what qualifications are required and/or desirable in candidates for ICT teams within schools.
The day was a great opportunity for networking, and getting the ed/it women message out there - we look forward to our future collabs with MITIE.
